About Us

Wrong Side of the Maelstrom is a tabletop gaming blog that is primarily focused on narrative games of Warhammer 40,000. The goal of the site is to share our love for the hobby, along with making narrative gaming more approachable and accessible.

We have regular content update on the 15th of every month.

The Team

Alys

(Pronouns: They/Them)

The site's Shadow-Captain, Alys can be found converting their sixteenth version of the same damn Raven Guard Captain, all while writing an article about their VERY STRONG OPINIONS on Warhammer.

Alys has been playing Warhammer since 4th edition Fantasy, and 3rd edition 40k. Their current armies include Raptors (40k) and Raven Guard (30k) with various minor allies to both, as well as Daughters of Khaine and Lumineth Realm-Lords in Age of Sigmar - all with expansive army lores that you should NOT under any circumstances get started on. They have timelines and maps.

Ian

(Pronouns: He/Him)

The site's dark apostle, Ian can be found in the dark corner of a room typing edits on his phone or fixing the list for a game where he was unable to finish painting all his units.

He still mixes up rules from 3rd edition and jumps between his three main armies: Drukhari, Black Legion and a Blood Angels successor chapter of his own devising, the Storm Guard. When not oscillating between unfinished painting projects, Ian likes to stress over events he's organizing, chasing the dragon of a perfect narrative game like a WAAC player chases the meta.

He also plays Titanicus.

Jeff

(Pronouns: He/Him)

The site's Techpriest, and occassional hobby articlist, who loves to paint and convert models.

Jeff has been playing Warhammer since 3rd edition. His current main armies include Adeptus Mechanicus/ Mechanicum (40k/ 30k), Imperial Guard, Night Lords (30k), and Sisters of Battle. He occasionally also dabbles in Titanicus and other even smaller miniature games.
